It was a strange day yesterday, I was asked to go to an event celebrating the gardens of Suzhou and so I did. Before I arrived I was told that they may ask me a few questions about the gardens and would that be OK? Of course it was.

When I got there however they asked me how long was my speech? I said “What speech?”

Apparently I was to talk about the gardens for at least five minutes. This is what I like about China, the unpredictable nature of the place.

And so here I am giving my speech in front of about 100 people I guess, but it all went smoothly enough and I got a gift bag for my troubles, got to love a gift bag.
