A few days before I left the UK I stayed with Michael and Roseanne, they used to live in Pinner near London but managed to escape to the country a while ago.
They now live in a lovely wee town called Calne which dates back to 978,which makes it Anglo Saxon. 100 years later it became a market town. It’s an area that I will hopefully explore in the future.

There are so many historical sites here nearby and I only managed to get to Avebury stone circle which dates back 5000 years. The largest stone is over 100 tons, how the hell did they move these stones and set them up in such geometric patterns. I love visiting ancient places and on this trip home I’ve seen a few. Avebury is by far the biggest and most impressive that I’ve seen on this trip.

A wee wander through the gardens.

The weather was great too and sitting out on the patio with Roseanne and Michael drinking gin and tonics was just grand. In the morning I was treated to square slice with Broon sauce.
