Winter has come back and it feels really cold again and miserable. The wind is subtle at times and then it cuts and slashes to the bone. The air is very dry and the air is playing havoc with me nose. Snotty and sore due to the pollution levels and last night I also used the air conditioning for a while and so me nose ain’t happy. I didn’t go to the park today, instead after breakfast I crawled back into bed for another hour and when I got up I had a second breakfast.
When I came back into the complex the other day I was asked if I had a red card, “No” I said….”You need to get a red card”…….”Why?”……..no answer and so I walked off. They were doing the very same thing a few weeks ago and I for one think that this is just another health hazard; the less human to human contact the better and I think passing out little red cards is just stupid and I won’t be joining in any time soon.
Each day we have to go about our business and I think the less contact we have with someone the better, but one great thing here is that you use your phone to pay for everything and so no money passes from hand to hand, instead you will scan a QR code or have your phone scanned and it is perfect in this situation. When I leave China I will be forced to go back to having physical contact with almost everyone that I buy from and go back to using real money…….how quaint.
If you don’t have a phone in China then life could be more difficult for you because there is an app for everything, for example when I go to the local supermarket I scan the QR code on entry and then I am allowed in. This procedure is also in place at the bus station and train station and I’m not sure what happens if you don’t have the phone with the correct app. Oh there is another one with is the Suzhou Health App which documents your current health situation and I believe I need this to help me safely exit China when the time comes. I’m still not sure how I will get to the airport yet but hopefully by next week I will have sorted that. I’m also trying to buy one really good mask with a filter for the flight back to Australia but I would have more luck finding some Hen’s teeth.
Mind you the way the virus seems to be spreading I am not so sure that I will be safer in Australia, however I will be glad to leave here and get back to a more relaxed way of life and knowing that I will have more freedom, cleaner air and better hygiene and of course a free internet and just as I am writing this the Firewall has been switched on once again because I can no longer listen to Radio 2 via the Wi-Fi or Data, it such a fucking nuisance. It’s not like Tony Blackburn is trying to over throw Xi Jing Ping or spread malicious rumours…….it’s so fucking pathetic and this is something I will not miss one iota.
