The morning was cold and crisp and after I had been to the park for my early morning constitutional I caught up with Lydia for lunch at my new favourite North Eastern restaurant in the Wuzhong district of Suzhou. We went there last week too and had some amazing sweet and sour pork which was done in a lemon based sauce. The pork was tender and the batter thin. Dumplings and cabbage were also on the menu and after we finished every bit I felt fat and ready for a snooze. And so yesterday I was happy to have the same thing again but instead Lydia ordered spicy pork, mutton dumplings and eggplant and potato which was also very good, but I would have also preferred the sweet and sour pork. As you may know or not know, when you order food in China you can do it in two easy ways, which are the usual way ordering with the waitress or you can use the APP by scanning the QR code on the table and then doing it yourself. By doing it yourself it is usually cheaper and yesterday we ended up getting a 15% discount. It’s relatively easy to use but of course it is all in Chinese which makes it a little tricky.

After lunch we jumped on the No 26 bus to go to the art gallery and for those of you who know Suzhou then I will tell you how to get there. If you go to Renmin Lu between Beisita and the moat then you will find it on the south side of the road, easy n’est pas?

The art was varied and diverse and some were just a little too abstract for my liking but I  don’t spend too much time analysing the art I just like it or I don’t and I usually make this decision quickly………

We must have stayed in here for about two hours wandering around the gallery and in fact we were the last to leave. When we came outside the winter was once again on show as the cold wet night made the idea of hot food very palatable.
