I saw this show advertised last week and I thought, I’m going to buy a ticket… and so I did.

It’s been a busy few weeks, even although I’ve had no work for two weeks. Last week I went back to work, which is good ’cause I need the money.

I’m back driving the bus and between shifts I’ve been finishing off the retaining wall and fixing the stormwater pipe which was cracked and I think this is part of the reason why the ground level has been dropping causing the shed slab to crack. Well I’m really hoping that this will fix the problem. It’s been a lot of heavy work and my body has suffered and it’s taken a few days to recover sometimes.

So getting back to the concert. I like Pink Floyd, I’ve listened to them for most of my life, at least over 50 years. I know almost every note, the lyrics and the way it makes me feel. I’ve never been lucky enough to see the original band and of course it’s too late now.
The show got off to a bad start, an omen indeed. The two lead guitarist were silent, but this was rectified after about ten minutes and they started again. You can forgive this technical issue, gremlins can be anywhere.
What I struggled with from the beginning was the feeling that they were not playing in sinc. The drummer was about a heartbeat out of kilter. Everyone in the band could obviously play their instruments, however I struggled with the interpretation of the music and of course the out of sinc playing . And then there were the two drunks sitting in front that also added to the ambience. One of them turned round and looked at me and I mouthed “Shut the Fuck Up!”
The interval couldn’t come soon enough, and when it did I left and headed home. I noticed that another couple that had been sat in the same row as me also had enough and were heading for the hills.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Ipswich was still very lively at night, and it feels very safe too. Many of the restaurants were full, great news for the Swich.
At home I watched YouTube for a while and then headed to bed because I want to go out on the bike Sunday, which I did. Only a short run, but it was good to get out because last week I had no energy to go anywhere.
